Ordering


Search for an Item

To search for a particular item or browse an area of interest, click the Browse or Search link in the header tab (you may have to click the product name first to display these links). Select the Browse option for a list of categories (the newspaper tab provides alphabetical browsing of titles). Select Search to fill out a detailed search form.

You may also enter a keyword in the Quick Search field at the top of the page to search for titles with that word in the product information.

Note: Quick Search searches all title information (title, author, content summaries, etc.) for the occurrence of the keyword and displays the results in order of title records with the most frequent matches. To perform a more refined search, use Advanced Search at the top of the page or the Search option in the header tab. Either option displays a search form, allowing the search to be narrowed (by author, etc.).

If an error is received when searching for an item, empty your cache/temporary Internet files to verify that your browser is accepting cookies properly. If you continue to have problems, contact Customer Service .


Shopping Cart

Use the Save For Later or Delete Item buttons to change the quantity of items in the shopping cart before making a purchase. (Entering a 0 in the Quantities box beside an item also removes it from your cart.) Be sure to click the Update button after increasing or decreasing quantities to save the changes. No additions or deletions are allowed after placing an order.

Select the Add Gift Wrap to available items check box to gift-wrap all eligible shopping cart items (marked with a green gift box icon) for $2 per item. You will be asked to select the type of gift wrap (birthday, etc.) and/or enter a message for the gift on the Checkout page.

Shopping cart items remain in the shopping cart for 90 days. Users will receive an e-mail from EBSCO after three days as a reminder to process the items in their cart, warning them that all items older than 90 days will be purged. Items in the Save For Later area will remain there indefinitely until they are moved back into the shopping cart and no reminders are sent regarding items in the Save For Later area.


Checkout Information

EBSCONET MarketPlace accepts various methods of payment, depending on your account options. These options should be listed in the Payment Method list on the Checkout page.

The Cost Center and Purchase Order fields are not payment options. They are for reference only and may not display for all users. Some accounts may require a number in the Cost Center field to reflect the location of the user placing the order. A number entered in the Purchase Order field will display on the invoice for reference purposes. This can be any number (20 characters maximum).

To designate that the payment information entered on the Checkout page automatically displays for future purchases, select the express checkout check box.

Once all the appropriate payment information has been entered, the Order Review page will allow the order to be verified before it is submitted.

Notes: Some titles may have tax applied, depending on the shipping address and location of the publisher/fulfillment center. If no tax is applied, the price (or subtotal) and extended price (or total) will be the same.

Coupons cannot be applied toward shipping charges, and only one coupon can be used per order. The full amount of the coupon must be redeemed at the time of use or the remaining balance will be lost. If you need assistance using a coupon, contact Customer Service.


Order Records

To view the status of all pending orders:

Click the View Order button to view more information on a particular order. To request a tracking number for an item, contact Customer Service.



Your Account Information

Click Change address on the left menu to edit existing addresses or add new shipping addresses to your account.

To update basic account information (phone number, e-mail, etc.), click Your Account at the top of the page, and then click Change your information. If you wish to specify a cost center or default address, you may do so here. Make sure you save your changes.


Customize Website

Click Your Account, and then click Edit display options to change the colors of your website or specify a default number of search results.


Select Featured Titles

Highlight a category in the Featured Titles categories box and use the arrow buttons to specify that titles in that specific category display on your home page. Remember to click Save Preferences at the bottom of the page to save the changes when finished.


Create a Customized Message

To create or edit the text message that displays beneath the welcome information on product pages:

  1. Click Edit Message in the Administration box under the left menu.

  2. Type a message in the appropriate text box(es).

    Note: To have the message you enter in the Home text box display on other pages as well, select the Display home message on all pages check box.

  3. Click Save Messages at the bottom of the page.
Note: Html tags can be used in the text boxes to further customize your message if you are familiar with this type of coding (bold, italics, etc.). However, since these messages are inserted into an existing web page, be sure that all html tags are correctly closed and that the following tags are not used in the text box: <html>, <head>, <body>, <title>, and <meta>. These tags are not needed and may display incorrectly or interfere with existing code.


Administrative Options


Approve Orders

In the Administration drop-down list, click Approval under Order to specify which orders from users within your account can be processed:

Approve (default) - the order is now approved and will begin processing.
Decline - the order is declined and removed from the system. The person who placed the order will receive an e-mail that the order was declined.
Hold - the order will be held for approval at a later date. Orders that are still awaiting approval after 30 days will be automatically cancelled.

To approve all orders at once, click Approve All, or when you are satisfied with your edits to the list, click Accept Changes.

An Order Approval Authority/Supervisor receives an e-mail notification when orders are awaiting approval and if no action is taken, will receive an e-mail after three days, reminding him or her to take action on new orders. Items that require approval from a supervisor will remain in the Order Approval area for 21 days, as long as they are left with a Hold status. They will continue to receive a weekly reminder, and if they do not make a decision, EBSCO will purge the item(s) on the 21st day.


Approve/Update Users

In the Administration drop-down list, click Approval under User to grant new users access to EBSCONET MarketPlace after indicating the following privileges for each user:

Selecting the Approve check box activates the new user(s), and the name(s) will be moved from the User Approval page to the User Maintenance page. The privileges above can be changed on this page for any user.

Administrators can view the following reports for users on their account:
